About Bali Thatch / Balinese Thatching
Balinese Thatch, or Alang Alang grass as it is traditionally known, has been used extensively in Indonesia, and has been proven over the centuries to offer longevity.
Balinese Thatching offers a functional and environmentally friendly alternative roofing material for any outdoor structure or alfresco living area.
Cooler in Summer / Warmer in Winter
Our Bali Thatch is up to 12% cooler in summer compared to other roofing applications like corrugated iron, polycarbonate sheeting and even traditional terracotta or cement roof tiles. It also retains heat in winter.
Our Bali Thatch also breathes naturally and offers 100% UV protection - great for over pools, spas and sandpits etc.
Waterproof
It is 100% waterproof with correct installation, requires no special skills to install and does not require any ongoing maintenance or cleaning.
By using your imagination any shape or design can be achieved to suit your application.
The manufacture's recommendations for creating a 100% water proof roof is to space the thatched strips at 80mm increments down the rafters.
Sun Shade
If you are only interested in sun shade and creating that "Bali look", they can be spaced further apart up to 120mm spacings, which will create a "shower proof" application.
We are more than happy to calculate what quantity of materials you need to thatch your roof using your measurements. We also work side by side with many customer's builders and landscape gardeners to achieve the perfect end result.
We have installed in kindergartens and childcare centres where it is important children are protected from Australia’s harsh sun.
Environmentally Friendly
You are purchasing a product that is 100% environmentally friendly. Our Bali Thatch is sown, grown and harvested by hand in Bali.
Our Bali Thatch comes from a renewable and sustainable source and is even manufactured 100% by hand.
You know when purchasing this product you are helping to support the beautiful peaceful village people of Bali.
